ChampionsGate Golf Resort - International Course

December 9-10, 2022

Caps & Guliksen Captrue Foursomes Championship, Keenan & Royak make it a three-peat in Senior Division, while Sponder & Anthony comeback in Super-Senior Division!

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The 5th annual Foursomes Championship took place at ChampionsGate Golf Resort this year. Teams of Ty Capps and Tyler Gulliksen, Brian Keenan and Paul Royak, and Steve Sponder and David Anthony won their respective divisions. Capps and Gulliksen shot even-par 144 over the two rounds, Keenan and Royak shot eight-over 152, and the duo of Sponder and Anthony shot five-over 149 to win. The challenging International Course only surrendered four under-par rounds throughout the two-day championship of alternate shot format.

Championship Division

Capps and Gulliksen held the lead after round one with a one-under 71, two shots better than three teams. Although Capps and Gulliksen held a two-shot lead, they were pressured by multiple teams that played well in the second round. Eventual runner-ups Rhett Pooley and Tiger Godwin shot two-under 70, with an impressive hole-out for eagle on hole 10. The duo of Ryan Herrin and Ricky Lee shot a tournament low three-under 69 in second round, with six total birdies, helping them secure a third-place finish in the championship division. Capps and Gulliksen finished with a birdie on the 18th hole that gave them a two-shot victory over Pooley and Godwin with a two-day total of even-par 144.

Senior Division

A two-over 74 from Keenan and Royak was good enough for a four-shot lead for the pair after the first day of play. They held the lead by four shots over two teams, John Ward Jr, and William Shufelt, and Danny Turbide and Sylvain Mercier, that shot first round scores of six-over 78. Keenan and Royak struggled on the front nine in day two, but an even-par back nine helped them shoot a six-over second-round 78, and win their division by six total shots.

Super Senior Division

The duo of Robert and Jeff Cunningham held the lead by one shot after round one with a one-over 73. Sitting one back going into day two, Sponder and Anthony played a consistent second round, shooting a three-over 75. Heading into the final three holes, they held only a one-shot lead, but three pars in a row helped them secure their division by three shots with a five-over 149.
