Women's Winter Series Information

The Winter Series is for players 22 years and older, and runs from November through January. There are three events scheduled for the 2024-2025 season: two individual events and a four-ball event.

*Gross & Net scoring*

Generally, day one tee times will be late morning to early afternoon starting from the 1st and 10th tees or by shotgun. Day two will be a shotgun start at approximately 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Players will be pre-flighted based on individual handicaps. The overall Champions will be the individuals lowest 36-hole total gross score in each division (regardless of pre-flighting).

Generally, divisions of more than 14 individuals will be flighted, however the Committee reserves the right to flight based on the number of individuals and/or the range of handicaps.

Eligibility

Entries are open to female amateur golfers who are age 22 or older as of the final day of the Winter Series Season, and not on a college golf team. Additionally, a valid Florida GHIN / USGA Handicap Index of 34.0 or below and current FSGA Membership is required.

Format

36-holes of gross and net scoring. A valid Florida GHIN / USGA Handicap Index of 34.0 or below is required at the time of entry.

Divisions and Course Set-Up

  • Championship Division plays approximately 5,600-5,800 yards (Gross & Net)
  • Middle Division plays approximately 5,300-5,500 yards (Gross & Net)
  • Forward Division plays approximately 4,800-5,000 yards (Gross & Net)

Prizes

Division champions at each event will receive a commemorative award (gross only). Gift certificates will be awarded to the top finishers in each of the age groups and flights (gross bias).

Points Competition

Throughout the series, the FSGA will maintain a “points list” that will be applied to the Player of the Year Points list.

See "Exemptions Into State Championships" below to see how players earn exemptions from the Winter Series into state championships.

Groupings, Starting Times & Player

Information about practice rounds, directions, lodging etc. will be published on the FSGA website at www.fsga.org before the event. Generally, starting times will be posted on the website two days after the close of entries for each event.

Practice Rounds & Cost

We are attempting to play golf during the busiest time of the golf season in Florida, and rounds cost more than during the summer months, including practice rounds. Accordingly, practice rounds will cost approximately $40-$60 and times will be limited.

Entry Fee

A Florida GHIN Handicap is required for all Winter Series Events.

  GHIN Required
Individual Events $200
Four-Ball Events $400

Fortunately, we are playing at very fine courses at significantly discounted rates and we appreciate these clubs’ cooperation. Playing during “the season” comes at a significantly higher price and we are doing everything possible (including depressed entry fees) to make competition available to you during the season.

Refund Policy

Requests for refunds received prior to the entry closing date will be honored (less $20 per entry administration fee). Requests received after the closing date will be honored (less 50% of the entry fee). No requests will be honored within two days of the scheduled start date.
