FSGA Foundation Scholars

FSGA Scholars is a scholarship program made possible by the FSGA Foundation. In the Spring of each year, the FSGA Foundation selects golfers from the FJT's graduating class to be awarded a renewable four-year scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements & Preferences

  • Florida resident and US citizen for at least one year 
  • High school senior in good standing enrolled in a Florida high school or a home education program
  • Financial Need 
  • Household income - less than $125,000 (net assets, number of children, number of parents, etc., are considered)
  • GPA - minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Competed in a minimum of three FSGA or FJT tournaments
  • Proof of acceptance by a college or university
  • Enrolled in, and completes, a minimum of nine credit hours per fall and spring semesters

  • Involvement in Golf, High School and Junior golf tours & programs
  • Financial Need
  • Essay
  • Letters of Recommendation 
  • Community Activities / Volunteer Involvement

Payment & Student Responsibilities

  • Each scholarship is awarded on a two semester term (fall & spring). 
  • Payment of the scholarship is made in two installments to the college or university the student is attending. 
  • The first payment is made during the fall semester, and the second payment is made during the spring semester.

It is the responsibility of the student to provide the FSGA with the correct mailing address for the payment of the scholarship (usually the financial aid department). Email all questions and information to scholarships@fsga.org.

Requirements for Scholarship Renewals 

  • Every FSGA Scholar must submit a request each year to have their scholarship extended to the next year
  • Request must include current transcripts
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher must be maintained or the scholarship funding will be suspended
  • Scholars must submit a brief letter or email summarizing the following points:      
    • How were your grades and GPA for the year and cumulatively?
    • What was the best part of the previous school year?
    • What was the most challenging part of attending college?
    • What is your intended career after graduation?
    • Did you have an amazing experience worth telling? Inspire us or make us laugh!

Deadline for Renewal

  • Renewal must be requested by July 1st, preceding the fall semester
  • Transcripts and written summary should be emailed to: scholarships@fsga.org

James E. Demick Scholarship

Scholarship Available

  • One (1) Annual Scholarship of $10,000 per year, renewable and available for a student's graduate and undergraduate studies.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Florida resident and US citizen for a minimum of one year
  • High school senior in good standing, enrolled in a Florida high school or a home education program, or
  • A student currently enrolled in college who graduated from a Florida High School and who has had extensive FSGA participation
  • Financial Need
    • Household income - less than $125,000 (net assets, number of children, number of parents, etc., are considered)
  • GPA - minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Competed in a minimum of three FSGA or FJT tournaments
  • Proof of acceptance by a college or university
  • Enrolled in, and completes, a minimum of nine credit hours per fall and spring semesters

About Jim Demick

The scholarship is named in honor of Jim Demick, who served as Executive Director of the FSGA for 24 years (1997-2020)  

A native Floridian, Demick joined the FSGA as the Executive Director in 1997. During his tenure, the organization grew into the largest and most active golf association in the country. He remains a part of the FSGA family, serving as a senior adviser to the Association and as President of the FSGA Foundation.


Barry Masters Annual Scholarship (For Bay County/Panhandle Residents)

Granted in conjunction with the Barry masters golf foundation

Scholarships Available

  • Two (2) Annual Scholarships of $1,000-$2,000 per year, renewable and available for all four years of the student's undergraduate studies
  • Preferably one male and one female recipient per year

  • Application Deadline - June 1st

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must be Bay County or Walton County Residents and US Citizens for at least one year
  • Household Income of less than $125,000
  • Must have competed on High School Golf Team
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the same general criteria outlined above for the FSGA Scholars Program
  • Application - Please use the application listed above in the FSGA Scholars section 
  • Renewals - Each scholarship recipient is eligible for annual renewal of their scholarship under the conditions listed above in the FSGA Scholars Program

About Barry & Joyce Masters

Barry Masters was an avid golfer who loved the game and the character and skills that it helps develop. Barry served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne at Ft Bragg NC and with the 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell KY. After his military service, Barry worked for the Chevron Oil Company for 35 years, retiring in 1997 as a Terminal Supervisor in Concord, California. Upon retirement, Barry and his wife Joyce moved to Bay Point in Panama City Beach.

While at Bay Point, Barry served as President of the Bay Point Golf Committee and President of the Bay Point Men’s’ Golf Association. Barry and Joyce were married for 28 years. Barry passed away in 2005 at the age of 67 and Joyce passed away in 2017.  Barry and Joyce were active supporters of junior golf and they established a perpetual scholarship program which is being jointly administered by the Barry Masters Golf Foundation and the FSGA Foundation. The Barry Masters Golf Foundation strives to support and fund junior golf, high school golf, and collge scholarships. 


Pam McCloskey Brosnihan Annual Scholarship (Southeast/Palm Beach Region)

Scholarship Available

  • One (1) Annual Scholarship of $1,000-$2,000 per year, renewable and available for all four years of the student's undergraduate studies

Deadline

  • Application Deadline - June 1st

  • Student must reside in the Southeast/Palm Beach Country region of Florida and US Citizen for at least one year
  • Household Income of less than $125,000
  • Must have competed on High School Golf Team

About Pam McCloskey Brosnihan

Quail Ridge Country Club's long time Head Professional, Pam McCloskey Brosnihan, lost her battle with cancer in 2014 at the age of 51. Pam started working for Quail Ridge in 1992 as the Assistant Professional and was promoted to Head Professional in 1994, the position she held until her passing.

Before her time with Quail Ridge, Pam had an impressive amateur golf career. She attended the University of Illinois from 1981-1986 where she played college golf. After graduating, Pam went on to win the Palm Beach County Women's Amateur Championship, the 1988 Florida Women's State Amateur, and 20 other individual titles. During her career as a Professional, Pam was a proud member of the Professional Golfers Association as well as the Ladies Professional Golf Association. In 1998 Pam met Dan, her husband and co-worker for the past fifteen years. Pam had a passion for people, golf, and life. Even through her illness, she maintained a positive attitude and made an impact on the golf operations at Quail Ridge that will last forever.

Nancy Carroll Scholarship

Granted in conjuction with the Indian River Colonly Club - Women's Golf Association

Eligibility Requirements

  • Female high school senior currently attending a Florida high school
  • Household Income of less than $125,000
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the same general criteria outlined above for the FSGA Scholars Program
  • Must have an interest or an association with the game of golf
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout four years of college
  • Application - Please use the application listed above in the FSGA Scholars section 
  • Renewals - Each scholarship recipient is eligible for annual renewal of their scholarship under the conditions listed above in the FSGA Scholars Program

About Nancy Carroll

Nancy Carroll started playing golf at the age of ten in Webster Grove, Missouri. She quickly fell in love with the game and by the age of 14 she was playing competively on the national level. When Nancy began playing golf at Indian River Colony Club, she was crowned the Club Champion 13 times. Promoting junior girls golf was important to Nancy and she strived to provide for future generations of the game.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Female high school seniors currently attending a Florida high school
  • Has not received a golf scholarship from any college or university
  • Must have financial need
  • Must have an interest or an association with the game of golf
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout four years of college
  • Be of high moral and ethical standard

FSGA Foundation Club Employees and Dependents Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements & Preferences

  • Must be an employee or a dependent of an employee of a full FSGA Member Club that uses the GHIN Handicap System (employment minimum of one year)
  • Florida resident for at least one year and a US citizen
  • GPA - minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Household income less than $125,000 (number of children, number of parents, etc. taken into consideration)
  • Financial Need - must clearly establish a need for financial assistance

Scholarship Amount

  • $500 - $2,000 per year (split among the fall and spring semesters)
