DADE CITY, Fla. – Three players took home Winter Series wins on Tuesday on the South Course at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. Ryan Prokay earned the Mid-Amateur title, Chad Ibbotson captured the win in the Senior Division, and Kevin Macy was victorious in the Super-Senior Division.
Mid-Amateur
Ryan Prokay finished with a three-under par,141, to secure the victory in the Mid-Amateur Division. He sat tied for the lead heading into the second round after an opening round of three-under par, 69. In the second round, Prokay birdied the 18th hole to capture a one-shot victory. Jimmy Kozikowski finished in solo-second place at two-under par,142. Kozikowski nearly forced a playoff with closing birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.
Senior
Chad Ibbotson finished with an even-par, 144, to secure another Winter Series victory. The Sanford native carded three birdies during Tuesday’s second round to post an even-par, 72, and secure his title. Danny Turbide finished in solo-second place, firing the low round of the day in the Senior flight with a score of one-under par, 71, and had a two-day score of three-over par, 147. William Shufelt rounded out the top-three with a cumulative score of six-over par, 150.
Super-Senior
Kevin Macy earned the title in the Super-Senior division with a four-shot victory, finishing at six-over par, 150. He played a consistent second round of two-over par, 74, to seal the deal. George Sledd and Walter Himelsbaugh finished tied for second with a two-day total of 10-over par, 154. Sledd had the highlight of the tournament with a hole-in-one on the par-3 14th hole in the first round. Himelsbaugh used four birdies to move up the leaderboard on Tuesday to put him into a tie with Sledd.
