OCALA, Fla. – The Winter Series traveled the Country Club of Ocala for the second four-ball event of the season. Ryan Prokay and Brett Young took home the win in the Mid-Amateur division on Tuesday, while Steve Houle and Bob Mathers were victorious in the Senior division. Chuck Davis and Doug LaCrosse captured the Super-Senior division title.
Mid-Amateur
Prokay and Young took home a one-shot victory in the Mid-Amateur division in Ocala, finishing the week at 11-under 133. The pair carded a first-round 67, finishing the day with seven birdies.
They took a share of the lead into Tuesday’s final round, beginning the day with birdies on two of the first three holes. The pair added two more birdies on the front side to make the turn at 3 under. They used a 3-under back nine to fire a final-round 66 and secure the victory with the low round of the tournament.
Paul Tesori and Garrett Morrison finished one shot back in second place at 10-under 134, with rounds of 67-67. Ryan McCarty and Troy Vannucci took third place with a 7-under 137, after rounds of 70-67.
Senior
Houle and Mathers survived a playoff to take home the win in the Senior division, finishing the week at 7-under 137. Following the first round, Houle and Mathers sat in first place after a 4-under 68 on Monday.
The duo got off to a quick start in the final round, starting the day with back-to-back birdies. They finished the day with a final-round 69 to sit at the top of the leaderboard with Jack Hannon and Brian Keenan at 7-under 137.
Houle and Mather birdied the first playoff hole to capture the win. Hannon and Keenan took second place, firing the low round of the division with a final-round 66. Paul Royak and Richard Kerper finished third place at 4-under 140.
Super-Senior
Davis and LaCrosse captured the one-stroke victory in the Super-Senior division, finishing the week at 6-under 138. The duo posted a 4-under 68 on Monday to head into the final round one shot back of the leaders. Davis and LaCrosse used a 2-under 70 in the final round to secure the win, carding four birdies on the day.
KenKirchner and Dennic Bush secured a second-place finish with a 5-under 139 for the tournament, while Steve Sponder and Joe Shaktman ttook hird place with a 3-under 141.
