Senior/Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship

Stone Creek Golf Club - Ocala, FL

March 15-16, 2025

PATIENCE IS THE NAME OF THE GAME FOR ALBRIGHT AND GRANT

OCALA, Fla. – It was the team of Steve Albright and Justin Grant who raised the trophy and captured the victory of the first men’s championship of the 2025 season. The duo used two 8-under rounds to reach 16-under to take home the 1-shot victory.

The leaderboard was tight at the top at the conclusion of round one, setting up for an exciting final day. Despite the gusty conditions, the teams managed to deliver impressive rounds of golf. Justin Grant and Steve Albright narrowly edged out the competition, finishing at 8-under to take the lead at the end of round one. Six teams were tied for second at 7-under. Defending champions Miles McConnell and Jay Halverson made a strong start, notching three birdies and one eagle during their first nine holes, positioning themselves tied for second heading into the final round.

The second round would be a true test of golf, with wind gusts reaching upwards of 36 mph. Yet Joe Alfieri and Daniel DeBra came out strong to start the final round, racking up four birdies in their first five holes to climb the leaderboard and put themselves in contention. Meanwhile, yesterday’s leaders, Grant and Albright, stayed consistent, shooting a solid 4-under on the front nine.

As the play continued, the leaderboard remained closely contested, with birdies coming in fast and keeping the competition tight. DeBra/Alfieri became the first to reach 15-under before a weather delay forced players off the course. At that point, DeBra/Alfieri held a narrow one-stroke lead over the field, with Grant/Albright right behind at 14-under.

The weather delay tested players' patience, but play officially resumed at 4:10 PM. Grant/Albright used the three-and-a-half-hour delay to recharge, returning with renewed energy and securing a birdie on their 16th hole to reach 15-under, tying Alfieri/DeBra. After both teams made pars on the 17th, it all came down to the final hole.

After a day of battling strong winds, a weather delay, and chillier-than-expected temperatures, Grant/Albright refused to back down. They secured a birdie on their 18th and final hole, gaining a one-stroke lead over Alfieri/DeBra to claim the victory.
