The FSGA is an allied golf association of the USGA. In regards to policies involving gender, the FSGA follows the USGA’s Competitive Fairness Gender Policy. The information below supplements the policy for FSGA Competitions.
FSGA Competitions include all competitions that the FSGA conducts, not limited to; State Championships, Qualifiers for State Championships, Florida Junior Tour, Winter Series, One-Day Net Events, Team Events, Interclub, Member Travel, LinkUp, and any other competitions conducted by the FSGA.
Definitions of FSGA Competitions and Divisions
Men’s Events and Men’s Divisions - When FSGA Competitions have eligibility requirements that refer to Men or Male, it shall mean any person who is not a Transgender Athlete and who is assigned male at birth, regardless of their gender identity. In addition, any Transgender Athlete may compete in a Men’s Event, subject to satisfying any applicable eligibility criteria outlined in the Competitive Fairness Gender Policy. For clarity, anyone who is not eligible to compete in a Women’s Event or Women’s Division may compete in a Men’s Event or Men’s Division.
Women’s Events and Women’s Divisions - When FSGA Competitions have eligibility requirements that refer to Women or Female, it shall mean any person who is not a Transgender Athlete and who is assigned female at birth, regardless of their gender identity. In addition, any Transgender Athlete may compete in a Women’s Event, subject to satisfying any applicable eligibility criteria outlined in the Competitive Fairness Gender Policy. For clarity, anyone who is not eligible to compete in a Men’s Event or Men’s Division may compete in a Women’s Event or Women’s Division.
Open Events - The following FSGA competitions are open to Men and Women athletes even though the competitions are displayed under Men’s Championships on the FSGA website: Amateur, Amateur Match Play, Florida Open, Florida Senior Open, Four-Ball, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Amateur.
Modifications to the USGA’s Competitive Fairness Gender Policy for FSGA Competitions are as follows:
- Any place in the Policy where the term “USGA” is used, the term “FSGA” shall be replaced.
- Any place in the Policy where the term “Championship” is used, the term “all FSGA competitions” shall be replaced.
- Any place in the Policy where the term “USGA Team” is used, the term “FSGA Team”: shall be replaced.
- Section 1. Purpose - This Policy applies to all FSGA Competitions.
- Anti-Doping Policies - Do not apply if not in connection with an athlete’s gender-affirming care. In the case of an athlete’s gender-affirming care, the USGA’s Anti-Doping Policy is in effect for FSGA considerations.
- Section 17. Costs - The cost of any testing incurred by the athlete will not be paid by the FSGA. The athlete is responsible for any and all costs associated with testing.
- Section 19. Arbitration - The place of arbitration shall be Florida and this Policy shall be governed by the laws of Florida without giving effect to the conflict of laws principles thereof.
