ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – David Anthony survived a playoff to win his third-straight Super-Senior Amateur Championship on Wednesday at The Palencia Club. Anthony finished the championship at 3-over 219 and secured the victory with a par on the third playoff hole.
Michael Bell was victorious in the 70-74 Division on Tuesday, while Jim Carley took home the win in the 75 & Over Division.
Championship Division
Anthony took home the playoff victory with rounds of 69-77-73 for the championship. The Jacksonville resident sat two shots back of the 36-hole leader, Terry Werner, heading into the final round.
After a bogey to start the final round, Anthony played the rest of the front side at 2 under with two straight birdies on No. 7-8. He posted a 2-over back nine to card a final-round 73 to finish the day in a tie at the top with Werner. A two-time FSGA Player of the Year, Anthony used a par on the third playoff hole to secure the victory.
Anthony, who also won the 2002 Mid-Amateur Championship, is the first player in FSGA history to earn three-straight Super-Senior titles.
Werner, who held the 36-hole lead, finished the week with a runner-up finish. The Fort Myers resident put together rounds of 70-74-75 to finish at 3-over 219. Werner and Anthony were the lone players in the field to post an under-par round, 70 and 69, respectively.
Andrew Padova finished in third place at 8-over 224, while FSGA Hall of Fame member, Doug LaCrosse finished fourth at 10-over 226. .

70-74 Division
Bell used rounds of 74-75 to capture his third Super-Senior title and his second in the 70-74 Division, finishing the week at 5-over 149. The Sarasota resident took a share of the first-round lead, with Tom Grady, at 2-over 74 in Monday’s first round. He finished the first round with three birdies.
Beginning the final round with a share of the lead, Bell carded a 1-over front nine to take the outright lead by two shots. He finished with a 2-over back side to secure the three-shot win with a final-round 75.
Robert Cunningham finished runner-up with an 8-over 152, ending the championship with rounds of 75-77. Grady finished the week in a tie for third with Tim Deleon at 10-over 154. Grady used rounds of 75-79 for the week, while Deleon finished with rounds of 74-80.
75 & Over Division
Carley went wire-to-wire to take home his third FSGA title with a victory in the 75 & Over Division at 4-over 148. He finished the first round in a tie at the top of leaderboard with Jim Brush, after both players posted a 1-over 73 on Monday.
Starting on the 10th hole, Carley carded a 1-under first nine with two birdies on the 15th and the 18th. He ran into some trouble on the back side, with two double bogeys, but finished up the day with a birdie on the 8th. The Ormond Beach resident used a final-round 75 to take home an eight-shot victory
Earl Daniell and Jim DuBois finished the championship in a tie for second at 12-over 156, while David Hyduke and Don Lamb finished in a tie for fourth at 13-over 157.
