Three Teams Conquer Countryside

Clearwater, Fla.  – Two days of perfect temperatures and sunny skies have allowed us to name three champions at the Winter Series Four-Ball at Countryside CC. Three well-deserved champions emerged after two exciting rounds including Philip Martin / Jackson Stroup in the Mid-Amateur division, Glenn Przybylski / Gregory Seelinger in the Senior Division, and Robert Thorpe / Neil Kopinski in the Super-Senior Division.

Mid-Amateur

On Monday, players were greeted with perfect golf weather. The picture perfect weather led to some impressive scores throughout the day. First round leaders Bryan Buie and Ray Byrne fired an impressive score of two-under par (70). Following Monday’s round, there was a three-way tie for second. Teams made up of Martin / Stroup, Allen / Schofield, and Skinner / Lambeth sat just one shot back of Buie / Byrne.

With perfect weather conditions heading into Tuesday’s round. Philip Martin & Jackson Stroup used it to their advantage, as they were able to shoot a two-under par (70). Two great rounds of 71-70—141 proved to be enough to hold onto the win. Finishing three back in solo second place was the team of Allen / Schofield, who shot rounds of 71-73—144. Third place was claimed by the team of Buie / Byrne, with rounds of 70-75—145.

Senior

After the first round, there was a tight race in the Senior division. Glenn Przybylski and Gregory Seelinger sat in first place and secured the low round of the day across all divisions with a score of six-under par (66). In solo second, the team of Haselrud / Creighton sat just one back after recording an impressive five-under par (67). Three back in solo third, was the team of Fitzstephens / Janiga, who shot a three-under par (69).

Following the first round, exciting play down the stretch led to a two-team play-off. Glenn Przybylski and Gregory Seelinger birdied the first play-off hole to claim the win. The team of Haselrud / Creighton fought back on Tuesday and finished with a (69) that put them into the playoff. They eventually came up just short after a birdie from Przybylski / Seelinger in the first play-off hole. Finishing in third was the team of Fitzstephens / Janiga; their consistent play led them to a solo third finish.

Super-Senior

After the first round, Robert Thorpe and Neil Kopinski held a commanding lead in the Super-Senior division. Thorpe / Kopinski fired a four-under par (68) to take a three shot lead heading into Tuesday’s final round. The team of Macy / Clemons scored a one-under par (71) putting them in a good position to make a run on Tuesday’s final round. Sitting four back in a tie for third, was teams Sheehan / Saunders and Tepas / Johnson, who shot an even par (72).

Robert Thorpe / Neil Kopinski continued their great play on Tuesday, firing a one-under par (71), cementing themselves as the victors with rounds of 68-71—139. In solo second place was the team of Macy / Clemons, who shot an impressive 71 in round two to finish three shots back. The team of Hyland / Arthur claimed third place, they finished with scores of 74-69—143.

Handicap:  Florida GHIN 10.0 or less

Entry Fee:  $400 per team

Eligibility

  • Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are age 25 or older as of March 4th, 2025
  • Each player must compete in the age division comensurate with their age as of March 4th, 2025. Competitors may not elect to play in a different age division or from a different tee than designated 
  • Entrant must be an Adult or Foundation Member of the FSGA
  • Entrant must have an active Florida GHIN Handicap and have a current handicap index of 10.0 or lower

Entry Fees & Prizes

  • $400 (per team)
  • Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field
  • Age-group Champions at each event will receive a commemorative award. Gift certificates (totalling approximately $30 per-player in the field) will be awarded to the top finishers in each age group

  • Available one week prior to the event on a space available basis and are restricted to after 12:00 PM on weekends
