TAMPA, Fla. - The Winter Series headed to Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club for the first Stableford event of the season. Scott Cox took home the win for the Mid-Amateur Division, while Tom Myers edged out a playoff victory in the Senior Division. Jerry Young captured the Super-Senior Division.
Mid-Amateur
Scott Cox posted a two-point victory over Nicholas LaBar, earning him a total of 69 points and a second Winter Series victory for the season. After round one, Cox sat at the top of the leaderboard posting a round of 78 to earn him 34 points for the day, tied for first with Alex Bury.
LaBar made a final-round run firing a 74 for the day with four birdies earning him 38 points, which was the highest 18-hole point total for the event in the Championship division. Cox finished with a final-round 77 to earn him 35 points and another Winter Series victory.
Senior
Tom Myers finished the tournament tied at the top of the Senior Division, and took home his first Winter Series victory after defeating Michael Arasin in a playoff. Myers was two points out of the lead after the first round and posted a final-round 74 to earn him a total of 72 points for the event to tie with Arasin.
Myers finished with a par on the first playoff hole to edge out Arasin and take home the Senior Division victory.
Super-Senior
Jerry Young earned a four-point victory at Tampa Palms on Tuesday and his second FSGA victory of the year. After round one, Young held a two-point lead over Kevin Macy after carding four birdies and a 1-over total for the day.
On day two, Young got off to a slow start but fired a 1-over 37 on his final nine holes to earn him 34 points for the day and 73 total points for the event. Ken Kirchner captured second place with a total of 69 points.
