Davenport & Brodeur Go Wire-to-Wire at Spring Run
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - The 2024 Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship (South) was contested at Spring Run Golf Club. The par-72 track provided ample scoring opportunities for the competitors to separate themselves from the field. Ultimately, the team of Will Davenport and Anthony Brodeur would go wire-to-wire to claim the victory.
Davenport and Brodeur jumped out to a lead following the first round thanks to an impressive score of 11-under par, 61, highlighted by Davenport’s six birdies on the front nine. However, it was still anyone's tournament to win as seven teams, which included four individuals that are former champions in this event, would tee-off on Sunday just two strokes behind the leaders. James Weick, plaing with Bradley Jackson, provided some extra excitement during the round when he recorded an ace on the par-3 14th hole.
Davenport and Brodeur would continue their impressive play on Sunday, highlighted by Davenport's 6-under par back-nine. The Palm City and Boynton Beach natives, respectively, would match their score from the first round on their way to a cumulative score of 22-under par and a four-stroke victory. This is Davenport's fourth FSGA Championship victory and Brodeur's first. T J Shuart and Richard Donegan would finish in second place with rounds of 63-63 for a cumulative score of 18-under par. Weston Parrish and Justin Grant fired rounds of 63-64 to take third at 17-under par.
