SARASOTA, Fla. – Emile Lebrun and Valentina Hurtado were victorious on Sunday at Palm Aire Country Club. Lebrun and Hurtado both took home the first Florida Junior Tour victories of their career this weekend.
Boys (13-15)
Lebrun was the only player to finish the weekend under par, at 1-under 143, on his way to his first FJT win. He got the tournament started with a 1-under 71 to take a one-shot lead over the field after the first round.
The Port Saint Lucie native got the final round started with a birdie on the third hole, but he made the turn at 1 over for the day. Lebrun added a birdies on the 10th and played the final nine holes at even par to secure the win with a final-round 72.
Henry Burbee and Zi Ang (Josiah) Wang finished the weekend in a tie for second at even-par 144, both players finishing the tournament with rounds of 73-71.
Girls (13-15)
Hurtado captured her first FJT win, finishing the weekend at 4-over 148. She posted a first-round 75 to sit two shots behind the leader.
The Weston native got off to a solid start in the final round, finishing her first nine at 1 over with a birdie on the 16th hole. She used a final-round 73 to capture the three-shot victory.
Three players finished the weekend in a tie for second at 7-over 151: Carlee Meilleur, Miranda Lu and Sydney Young
