Carter & Donovan Prevail at Pinecrest
AVON PARK, Fla. – Grace Carter & Jack Ryan Donovan secure important FJT victories. Their consistent play lead the way.
Boys (16-18)
A picture perfect Saturday led to an exciting first round. The first round saw beautiful weather as well as some impressive golf. First round leader Jack Ryan Donovan fired an impressive score of five-under par 67. Donovan posted four birdies as well as an eagle. Sitting in second is Maddox Ketelaar who posted a three-under par 69 to sit two-back of Donovan. Ketelaar had five birdies en route to his 69. Chase Bauer sits three-back off leader Jack Ryan Donovan. Bauer fired a two-under par 70 that included four birdies and an eagle. Jaspreet Kondal and Marcelo Gonzales sit four-back of Donavan after shooting one-under par in the first round. The leaderboard is tight following Saturday’s round. Sunday’s round should have an exciting finish.
To begin the second round players faced an hour and a half fog delay. The fog eventually subsided and the beautiful weather continued Sunday. Jack Ryan Donovan was the victor as he maintained his first round lead. Donovan finished at nine-under par with scores of 67-68—135. Donovan posted seven birdies in his second round to secure his victory. Chase Bauer came roaring back to finish tied for second. Bauer recorded rounds of 70-67—137. He finished with eleven birdies and an eagle across the two rounds. Juan Jose Saaveedra also finished in a tie for second. Saavedra’s scores of 72-65-137 proved to be enough to earn second place honors. Saavedra’s second round score of 65 was the low round of the tournament across all divisions.
Girls (16-18)
After the first round, Ryan Donaldson sits atop the leaderboard. Donaldson played impressive golf throughout the day as she finished two-under par with a score of 70. Donaldson’s first round included a birdie and an eagle as well. Grace Carter sits two-back of Donaldson after a great round of even-par golf. Carter’s round of 72 included three birdies. Four-back in a tie for third is Krishny Elwin and Amelie Phung. Elwin and Phung look to close the gap in the final round. Youyang Li, Phoenix Scanlan, and Hannah Hall sit in a tie for fifth place at three-over par 75.
Grace Carter stole the show in Sunday’s final round. Carter posted a 68 in the second round to give her scores of 72-68—140, Carter finished four-under par. Carter’s bogey free round of 68 that included four birdies proved to be enough as she hoisted the first place trophy. Krishny Elwin claimed solo second as she finished with four birdies in her final round. Elwin finished with scores of 74-70—144 to sit two-back at even par. Ryan Donaldson finished in third place with scores of 70-76—146.
