NAPLES, Fla. – Heavy morning rain on Sunday led to a one round 18-hole event at Eagle Creek G&CC. Players battled it out on Saturday, leading to a tie for first place in the boy’s division and a three-way playoff Sunday afternoon. Jaden Peterson emerged victorious in the boy’s division while Alexandra Phung fired a 7-under 65 on Saturday to earn her victory in the girl’s division.
Boys (13-15)
During round one, many players hung at the top of the leaderboard throughout the day. It was Jaden Peterson, Sohan Patel, and and Tucker Cullinan who finished the day with scores of 1-under 71. Many players sat within three shots of the lead looking for a low round on Sunday. Summer rains unfortunately got the best of Eagle Creek G&CC, and it came down to a three-way playoff after cancelling round two to determine the winner. After one playoff hole, it was Jaden Peterson who made a lone birdie to capture the win for the boys.
Sohan Patel and Tucker Cullinan took second place with rounds of 71.
Girls (13-15)
Round one sat in the favor Alexandra Phung after posting 8 birdies to fire a 7-under 65. Not far behind sat Phoenix Scanlan who also shot an impressive round of 5-under 67. Players looked to catch Phung heading into Sunday, but the rain did not let that happen. Phung took home the victory while Scanlan took solo second place, and Dannika Hines finished solo third with a round of 70.
