Coelho and Carroll Win at Mission Inn
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Facing multiple weather delays throughout the tournament, it was Kiko Francisco Coelho and Chase Carroll who were victorious on Friday at Mission Inn Resort & Club. This is Coelho’s second Florida Junior Tour win, while Carroll picked up his first FJT win.
Boys 16-18
Coelho earned the win on Friday with a 1-under 143 for the two-day tournament. The Lake Mary native posted a first-round 68, the only under-par round in the field. Through 13 holes, Coelho sat at 2-under and then posted back-to-back birdies to move to 4-under. He headed into the final round with a four-shot lead.
Coelho had a slow start in the final round, finishing the front nine at 2-over. He carded a single bogey on the back nine to record a final round 75 and secure the win.
Cooper Tate, Michael Mays and Andrew Clark finished tied for second at 2-over 146. Tate carded the low round of the day on Friday with a 1-under 71. Coelho and Tate were the only players to post under-par rounds over the two days.
Sebastian Nachilly and Hansel Hari took home a tied-for-fifth finish at 3-over 146.
Boys 13-15
Carroll used a 2-over 146 to earn the one-stroke victory at Mission Inn. The Jacksonville native carded a 1-over 73 in the first round to sit one shot back the first-round leaders.
Liu struggled on the front to make the turn at 2-over. He rebounded on the back nine, posting a 1-under, and finished the final round with a 73 on his way to his first FJT win.
James Hassell picked up the second-place finish at 3-over 147, while Carson Brewer took home third place at 5-over 149.
