DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Battling cold and windy conditions, Benjamin Cai and Angelica Holman took home Florida Junior Tour wins on Sunday at LPGA International. This is the second-career FJT victory for Cai and the third-career win for Holman.
Boys (16-18)
Cai captured his first FJT win of the season with an even-par 144, the only even-par or better round in the Boys’ division. The Davenport native took a share of the first-round lead on Saturday with Reggie Zhu and Jack Snedaker at 1-under 71.
After two bogeys early in the first round, Cai rolled in a birdie on the eighth. He carded an even-par back side with two birdies to post a final-round 73 and secure the one-shot victory. Jules Gentil and Zhu finished the weekend in a tie for second place at 1-over 145.
Girls (16-18)
Holman used a final-round 70 to earn the five-shot win at 1-under 143, the only under-par total of the tournament. The Fort Pierce native posted a first-round 73 to take a two-shot lead over the field.
Getting off a quick start in the final round, Holman birdied the first two holes of the round. She added a birdie on the 16th to make the turn at 1 under. Holman birdied two of her final five holes to secure the victory with a final-round 70.
Sabrina Kim finished runner-up at 4-over 148, while Mei Chen took third place at 6-over 150.
