Mixed Shoot-Out

Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club, Sarasota, FL

September 21-22, 2024

Sarasota, Fla. – Fifty-two teams of two took on Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club for the Mixed Shoot-Out Championship. In this unique event, three different formats were played including modified alternate shot, scramble and four-ball.

Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club was a fair test for the field. Out of bounds and penalty areas lining almost every fairway and smooth, and firm greens proved to be a great test of golf.

Championship Division

The team of Jill and Carson Spence started their event with an opening round of 1-under par 70. With a difficult opening stretch of holes, the Spence’s made bogey on three of their first six holes. A back-to-back birdie, and eagle on holes 13 and 14 rallied their round during the scramble format.

With steady golf on day two of the championship in the four-ball format the team of Spence and Spence found themselves in a tie for first place after a two under par round of 69. They were the only team in the Championship Division to have an under par round.

Also tied in first place was the team of Bruwer and Sellis. The duo started their championship with an opening round 4-under par, 67, but had a difficult time in the Four-Ball, shooting 1-over par.

Both teams took to the challenging 18th hole for the playoff. With two solid tee shots, the Spence’s took control of the playoff. Two more solid shots into the green gave the pair two good looks at birdie and ultimately a tap in par to claim the title.

Overall Forward Division

In the Forward Division of the championship, Man Zhang and Brad Kroll took control of the event with rounds of 70-69. This was enough for a five shot lead over the Forward Field. Their rounds consisted of ten birdies.

In second place, the team of Conlon and Conlon was the only other team in the Forward division to finish under par with rounds of 67-71. The two put together nine birdies in pursuit of their second place finish.

Rounding out the top three overall forward teams was the team of Shelly and Shelly. With an under par round of 69 in the Four-Ball, they put together an even par championship and solo third place.

If there is still a tie, the last 9 holes of the last day (10-18). If there is still a tie, the last 6 holes are used (13-18), then if needed the last 3 holes (16-18), then the final hole (18). In the case that players are still tied after the 18th hole, the winner will be determined by lot (coin flip).
  • Field Divisions will pay gross first, then net.
