VERO BEACH, Fla. – James Earle and Addison Klonowski were the ones left standing after tough conditions at Sandrdige Golf Club this weekend. With gusts over 30 mph on Saturday and Sunday, Earle and Klonowski took home the Florida Junior Tour victories. Earle earned the win in his first FJT start, while Klonowski picked up her fourth-career FJT win.
Boys (16-18)
Earle survived a four-hole playoff to come out on top in the Boys’ division, finishing the weekend at 3-over 147. The Jupiter native started the weekend with a 4-over 76 to sit four shots back of the first-round leader, William Jun.
In the final round, Earle got the day started with a 1-over front nine. He turned it on in the final nine, birdieing the 12th hole and the final hole of the to force a playoff with Jake Manelas. Earle rolled in a 10-foot birdie on the fourth playoff hole to secure the victory.
Manelas finish the weekend in second place, with he and Earle posting the low round of the weekend with a final-round 71. Jun took third place at 5-over 149 with rounds of 72-77.
Girls (16-18)
Klonowski captured her first FJT win of the year, finishing the weekend at 6-over 150. In extremely tough conditions on Saturday, Klonowski posted a 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for second and four shots behind the leader.
The Naples native got off to a strong start in the final round, finishing her first nine bogey-free with a birdie on the 15th hole. She used a final-round 76 to take the two-shot victory.
Three players finished the weekend in a tie for second at 8-over 152: Angelica Holman, Bridget Ma and Victoria Tan. Holman carded the low round of the tournament with an impressive 2-under 70 on Saturday.
