CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. – Four players took home Florida Junior Tour wins on Sunday at ChampionsGate Golf Club. Sebastiano Mascia captured the win in the Boys 16-18 Division, while Tabitha Hanely took the win in the Girls 16-18 Division. In the 13-15 Division, Andre Zhu was victorious in the Boys Division and Kayla Bryant won in the Girls Division.
This is the first FJT win for Mascia and Hanely, while Zhu picked up his second FJT victory and Bryant earned her fifth FJT.
Boys 16-18
Mascia posted a final-round 71 to take home the win in the Boys 16-18 Division, finishing the weekend at 1-under 143. He started the weekend with an even-par 72 to sit one shot back of the first-round leader.
The Orlando native got off to a slow start in the final round with a double bogey on the first hole of the day. Mascia turned it around quickly with back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth. He finished the front side with three-straight birdies.
He finished with an even-par back side to post a 1-under 71, securing the two-shot victory. Benjamin Cai took home second place at 1-over 145, while Stephen Hickham finished third at 3-over 147.
Girls 16-18
Hanely survived a playoff to capture her first FJT win, posting a 7-over 151 for the tournament. She opened the weekend with a first-round 77 to sit three shots back of the leaders heading into the final round.
The Bradenton native began the final round with a 1-under front side with two birdies. Hanely played the back nine at 3 over to post a 2-over 74 to finish the day in a tie for first with Hope Hall at 7-over 151.
Hanely secured the victory on the first playoff hole with a par. Hall finished second, after round of 77-74 for the weekend. Two players finished tied for third at 8-over 152: Yongze Cheng and Kaia Wu.
Boys 13-15
Zhu picked up his second FJT win by way of a playoff, finishing the tournament with a 1-over 143. He began the weekend with a 3-under 69 to take a two-shot lead over the field.
The Kissimmee native started the final round with three-straight bogeys but turned it around with three birdies over the next six holes to make the turn at even par. Zhu finished the day with 2-over back side to finish the day with a 2-over 74.
He ended the day in a tie for first 1-under 143 with Victor Herrera. Zhu birdied the first playoff hole to take home the win. Herrera finished second after rounds of 71-72, while Jessy Huebner finished third at 4-over 148.
Girls 13-15
Bryant captured the win in the Girls 13-15 victory, ending the weekend at even-par 144. She finished the first round with a 1-under 71 to sit one shot back of the leader, Menglu Zhu.
The Boca Raton native began the final round with a birdie on the second hole of the day, while carding a 1-under front side. Bryant finished up the day with a 2-over back side to post a final-round 72 secured the two-shot win.
Zhu took home a runner-up finish at 2-over 146, while 3 Loa Johannsson finished third at 4-over 148.
