Wurtenberger & Yarmitzky win Mid-Senior 4-Ball South

Michael Wurtenberger and David Yarmitzky prevailed in a playoff at the Mid-Senior Four-Ball South Championship at Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club, in Naples.  The duo outlasted the pair of Howard Logan and K.C. Fox.

In the South Four-Ball Championship, Michael Wurtenberger, of Weston, and David Yarmitzky, of Sunrise, went wire-to-wire to win the championship in a playoff.
After posting rounds of 64-68 Wurtenberger and Yarmitzky would find themselves tied with 2012 Senior Amateur Match Play Champion Howard Logan, of Naples, and K.C. Fox, of Sarasota. The duo made par on the first play off hole to secure the title with an overall score of 12-under par, 132.

The 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course at Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club offers a challenging adventure through Southwest Florida?s native landscape and environment. The course was originally designed by renowned golf course architect Larry Packard, but subsequent renovations and modifications were later performed by former U.S. Open champion and Eagle Creek member, Ken Venturi. The course now features Tifeagle greens built to USGA specifications and certified 419 bermuda on tees, fairways, and roughs with recently renovated bunkers and cartpaths.

Eligibility

Male amateurs must be age 40 or older as of September 15, 2012, and both entrants must be members of the FSGA.

Entry Fee

$310 ($330 - members who do not have an active FSGA/GHIN Handicap).

Championship

36 holes of four-ball stroke play.  The lowest team score for 36 holes will be the Champion. If necessary, there will be a hole by hole play-off to determine the champion. It is the player's responsibility to be present for any play-off.

Championship Field Size

48 teams; 96 players

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up approximately 6600-6800 yards.

Flights

After 18 holes. The number of flights will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.

Tee Times

Round one and two tee times will begin at 8:00 AM off the 1st and 10th tees.

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the championship.  Practice rounds may be played after 12:00 PM on the weekend.  The price for your practice round is $30.00 + tax.  Please call (239) 774-2202 to arrange your practice round.  The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

Carts

Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

Defending Champions

Gary Nicklaus and Jon Veneziano won the South title at The Wanderers Club  with scores of 64-62--126.

Scorecards

Only one of the partners per team need sign the score card and each score to count must be individually identifiable.  See Rule 31-3.

Spectators and Caddies

Spectators and caddies are always welcome at FSGA Championships. Only players are allowed to ride in carts.  If a player employs a caddie, the caddie MUST walk and the player's clubs must remain on the golf cart.

Conditions; Schedules

The FSGA Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions and/or schedules.  The decision of the Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter will be final.
