LECTANO, Fla. – Hans Risvaer and Siuue Wu took home the Florida Junior Tour victories at the 54-hole Memorial Day Major on Monday at Black Diamond Ranch. This is the second win of the year for Risvaer, while Wu captured her third victory of the season and her second FJT Major win.
Boys (16-18)
Earning the two-shot victory, Risvaer captured the wire-to-wire win with a 7-under 209. He opened the tournament with a first-round 68, carding five birdies and an eagle on Saturday to take a share of the first-round lead with Sebastian Kawas.
Risvaer took the 36-hole lead with a second-round 68, finishing the day with six birdies. The Miami native began the final round with a four-shot lead over the field. He ran into some trouble on the front side, playing his first nine at 4 over.
He turned it around on the back nine, birdieing four holes to post a final-round 73 and secure the victory at 7-under 209. Kawas finished runner-up at 5-under 211 with rounds of the 68-72-71. Camden Goldknopf and Palmer Haynes finish in a tie for third at 2-under 214.
Girls (16-18)
Wu used three under-par or better rounds to take home the win in the Girls’ division at 3-under 213. She began the three- day tournament with a 2-under 70 in the first round to take a share of the lead with Honorine Nobuta Ferry.
Keeping it rolling in the second round, Wu carded an even-par 72 to take the 36-hole lead. She started the final round with four-shot lead over the field. The ChampionsGate native played the first three holes of the day at 1 over before birdieing three-straight holes. Wu secured the victory with a final-round 71.
Ferry took second place at 2-over 218 with rounds of 70-76-72, while Brianna Castaldi and Sabree Lefebvre shared third place at 5-over 221.
