Four Secure First Victories at Estero
Fort Myers, Fla. – After dealing with a delayed start to Saturday’s first round we have lucked out with two nice days, four first-time winners emerged at Estero Country Club including Jonathan Brubaker, Kaden Latreille, Dariana Breto, and Sarah Gilman.
Boys (16-18)
On Saturday, players had deal with a short delay and intermittent rain to begin their rounds. Even with these conditions, our first round leader, Jonathan Brubaker, fired an impressive score of one-under par 71. Sitting in solo second is Gavin Spinner just two shots back of Brubaker and sitting just three shots back is a three-way tie for third is Lion Liu, Jace Jenkins and Christian Iwai.
With a rain delay on Saturday, conditions remained tough for our final round on Sunday. Jonathan Brubaker, from Ponte Vedra Beach ended the day with an even par round of 72, which secured his two shot victory. His great play allowed him to maintain his two shot lead and secure his first FJT Victory. Finishing two back in solo second place was Gavin Spinner, who shot rounds of 73-72—145. Third place was claimed by Jace Jenkins, with rounds of 74-72—146.
Girls (16-18)
After the first round, there was a tight race in the Girls (16-18) division. Samantha Von Rohr of Bradenton and Dariana Breto of Hialeah both shot a six-over par 78 to take a two shot lead into Sunday. Sitting two back in solo third, was Emma Tobias, who shot a eight-over par 80.
Following the first round, Dariana Breto remain tied for first with Samantha Von Rohr. Breto needed a strong round on Sunday to put her name atop the leaderboard. She did just that, playing consistent golf to help her shoot a three over 75. She wound up winning by two shots over Madison Roach and Emma Tobias who tied for second at 11 over par.
Boys (13-15)
After the first round, there was a tie for the lead in the Boys (13-15) division. C J Holland of Land O’Lakes and Kaden Latreille of Naples both shot an even-par 72 to take the overnight lead. Sitting one back in solo third, was Dane Mohap, who shot a one-over 73. Just two back looking for a Sunday run is Ippei Igarashi after shooting a two-over par 74.
Latreille continued his great play on Sunday, firing a two-under par 70, cementing himself as the victor with rounds of 72-70—142. Three birdies on the day allowed Latreille to secure the victory. In solo second place was Bento Assis, who shot an impressive 70 in round two to finish four shots back. Third place finished in a tie between Asher Katz and Dane Mohap. Katz shot 75-72—147 over the two rounds of competition. Mohap shot 73-74—147 over the two days.
Girls (13-15)
Sitting atop the leaderboard after round one was Sarah Gilman of Lutz after firing a nice opening round of one-over par 73. In solo second, just three back was Catalina Dolan after a four-over par 76. In third place sits Danica Becker at six-over par 78.
Gilman played consistent golf throughout Sunday’s final round. Gilman was able to maintain her lead and secure the victory in the girls (13-15) division. She finished with a 75 to win by two strokes over Isabella Michetti. Michetti fired an impressive round of 71 to claim solo second place. Dolan and Becker finished tied for third at nine over par. Dolan shot 76-77—153 during the two tournament rounds. Becker shot 78-75—153 over the two days.
