LADY LAKE, Fla. – The Florida Junior Tour headed to Lady Lake where Harbor Hills Country Club hosted the last 9-12 event following the 2024 year. Juniors in four age divisions all were vying for the top spots.
Boys (11-12)
Reagan Smith opened round one with an impressive 3-under par, 69 to get the competition started. With a hole out for eagle on the 10th hole, the Harbor Hills member, vaulted to a two shot lead over Jay Huntley and Axel Monssoh.
Round two saw a three way battle for a share of the lead. Monssoh, Smith, and Stricklin all firing on all cylinders had a share of the lead. Heading to the final nine holes, Monssoh turned on the heat and quickly grabbed the solo lead with a birdie on the 11th hole and followed this up with an eagle on the reachable par 5, 12th hole. From here, Monssoh never looked back. He continued his round and carded two more birdies and one bogey coming in for a spectacular 5-under par, 67 and a five shot victory.
Smith held on for a solo second place finish on his home course, and both Stricklin and Allen Haung ended their tournament in a tie for third with a two day total of 144, even par.
Boys (9-10)
The younger boys division would see another Monssoh star shine. Playing consistently throughout the two days, Victor Monssoh carded round of 75-75, for a 150 total, and like his brother a five shot victory. Finishing in a tie for second place was Jayden Wei, and Julian Sepulveda with rounds of 76-79, and 77-78 respectively. The top three finishers recorded eleven birdies between the two rounds.
Girls (11-12)
The Girls (11-12) division was equally as exciting. After round one, Michelle Lu sat on a one shot lead following her even par round of 72. Liu played consistently through the windy conditions recording two birdies and two bogeys. Learking just one shot off the lead was Mia Heuberger, and Bella Simoes.
Round two saw more tough battles and lead changes with four players tied for the lead through the first nine holes of the day. Cloe Wang took advantage of the difficult conditions and made several clutch putts to jump into the lead position. With seven birdies on her second round aloe, Wang moved her way up the leaderboard and finished her day one shot above the field after a fantastic 3-under par round of 69. Lu, Heuberger, and Simoes all finished their day in a tie for second place.
Girls (9-10)
When round 1 was complete, Enya Chavitranurak found herself with a commanding lead over the girls (9-10) field. Chavitranurak’s round of two over par, 74 gave her a six shot lead over the field. As they head into round two, there was some ground to make up if the other players were going to battle it out for first. Again, windy and difficult conditions made it anyone’s tournament to win in round two. With Scarlett Konecny putting together a solid round of 3-over par, 75 she was inching closer to the lead, however Chavitranurak was able to hold on for a one shot victory with Konecny finishing in second and Isabella Miller rounding out the top three.
