Remaklus and Sullivan Victorious at ChampionsGate
CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. – Alexandra Remaklus and McKenzee Sullivan teamed up to take the winning spot at the Women’s Four-Ball Championship, hosted by ChampionsGate Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. The duo carded a 65 and 66 to lead the field in the Championship Division by an assertive eight strokes. The field was made up of 32 teams, sorted into four divisions.
Championship
Seven teams in the Championship Division descended on the fairways of ChampionsGate Country Club, with the top three teams in the division posting scores of even par or better. Division champions Alexandra Remaklus and McKenzee Sullivan were an unstoppable force on the links at ChampionsGate C.C., diving to 13 under for the tournament. One Kashima and Habiki Adachi I were in pursuit of the leaders at 5 under on Saturday and Sunday, posting a 72 on the first day of the event and coming back with a 67 on day two. They pulled through with the team of Ashley Zagers and Bianca Sol Cruz hot on their heels, with Zagers and Sol Cruz a mere stroke behind at 4 under for the tournament.
Middle Division
Gross Results
Karen Carter and Lisa Robinson led the nine teams in the Middle Division with a gross score of one-under-par, shooting 71 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. Four strokes back, the team of Janet Van Slyke and Tisha Gentry held their second place spot for the two days- with a first-round score of 73 and a second-round score of 74. Meanwhile, Liz Boudreaux and Paula Holmes made moves along the leaderboard, inching their way into a third place finish with a seven-over par 76 and 75 for the two days.
Net Results
The top of the leaderboard once again saw Carter and Robinson with their definitive win of the Net results. Accounting for handicap adjustments, the duo arrived at -21 for the tournament, carding a firey 61 on Saturday and 62 on Sunday. Following them was a group of three teams- Yenisse Cachongrete and Diane Dodge; Janet Van Slyke and Tisha Gentry; and Meredith Blinn and Cheryl Sadlon- all arriving at a -14 finish for Middle Net Division.
Middle First
Gross
Jennie Taylor and Kerstin Koenig snuck away with a one stroke lead over the second place team with a 15-over par 80-79. Trailing closely behind in second was the inspirational mother-daughter duo Piya Thompson and Ella Thompson, shooting 78 and 82 to finish at 16 strokes over par.
Net
Lynda Dao-Vo and Patty Dailey emerged victorious in the Middle First Net Division, with a 67 on Saturday and 65 on Sunday to bring them to a twelve-under-par finish.
Middle Second
Gross
Lauren Greenberg and Marie Kolwyck led the Middle Second Gross Division with a hot start at 81 on Saturday followed by score of 84 on Sunday to bring their tournament total to +21.
Net
On the Net side of the Middle Second division, Brenda Wheeler and Kathleen Weis teamed up to fire a thirteen-under par 65-66.
