The Club at Emerald Hills Wins Club Team
The Club at Emerald Hills (Hollywood) won the Florida State Club Team Championship by two strokes after posting 301-310--611 at the Bonita Bay Club. Paul Melson led the team by shooting 3-under par over the two days (69-72). Gary Schwartz and Ken Peyser shot 77-80 and 77-81 respectively, while John Warsing added a 78-77. Elliott Slavis posted an 89 and 92, but neither of his scores counted toward the team total.
Interlachen Country Club (Winter Park) finished in second place after shooting 309-304--613. David Boesel led their second round charge with an even-par 72.
First-round leader St. Petersburg Country Club fell to sixth place.
The defending champions from Lake Nona Golf Club in Orlando finished in 8th place with a 631 total, while Avila Golf & Country Club's "A" team, which was trying to win its 10th State Club Team title, finished at 624 for 5th place.
The Florida State Club Team is the second championship on the Florida State Golf Association's annual schedule.
