St. Petersburg Country Club leads the Florida State Club Team Championship by four strokes after posting a 297 at the Bonita Bay Club. Carson Crooms led the team with an even-par 72. PJ Penrose shot a 73, while Brian Borschel and Tommy Gault both posted 76s. Spencer Gaylord Sr. shot a 79, but his score did not count toward the total.
The Club at Emerald Hills (Hollywood) is standing in second place. Paul Melson shot the championship's low round of the day with a 69. The Golf Club at North Hampton stands in third with a 305 total.
Defending champions from Lake Nona Golf Club in Orlando are in 12th place, while Avila Golf & Country Club's "A" is tied for seventh at 311. Avila is trying to win its 10th State Club Team title.
The final round will be played Sunday, May 6. Forty will continue to compete, with four of the five gross scores determining the team total.
The Florida State Club Team is the second championship on the Florida State Golf Association's annual schedule.
