LADY LAKE, FL - Although the rain held off, the hot conditions on Saturday, paired with the breezy conditions on Sunday, made this weeked a true test for players of all ages.
Boys 11-12
Darren Zhou put together an impressive wire-to-wire finish this weekend. Coming out of the gates, he shot the low score of the day in Round 1 with a 67 (-5), to hold a two shot lead over both Maxwell Morgan & Cooper Foegen, who both shot 69 (-3). Knowing he had to go low on Sunday, Zhou did just that by putting together another fantastic round of 68 (-4) to finish the weekend at 9 Under. Event with the impressive two day total, Zhou only squeaked out a two shot victory over Morgan. Finishing close behind at 4 Under, were both Nemo Tsai & Chase Bauer, who both finished in a tie for third. This becomes Zhou's second win in his only two FJT starts.
Girls 13-15
Ava Zhang carded the only two even par rounds or better within her division, en route to her nine shot victory. Zhang started off the event coming inwith a score of 70 (-2) in order to attain a four shot lead over Marley Pedrique. As soon as the round started on Sunday, Zhang never looked back, and got the job done by shooting a smooth even par round of 72. Marley Pedrique held on to finish second in the event, while Lilliana Ford snuck into third place by shooting a Round 2 score of 75 (+3). Despite her stellar play in past events, this becomes Ava's first FJT victory.
Boys 9-10
After the completion of Round 1, we had a tie at the top between Benny Minter & Bobby Jones Potash who both came in with a score of 73 (+1). On Sunday morning, Minter started off hot and carded a 35 (-1) on the front nine to pull ahead of the field by three shots. Heading to the difficult back nine, Minter was able to grow his lead to five shots, and capture his first FJT victory in his first start. Benny Ossi moved into second place by finishing with a 75 (+3) on Sunday, and Jones Potash finished third with a day two score of 80 (+8).
Girls 9-10
Alexandra Phung played fantastic golf from start to finish, as she started off the tournament with a 71(-1) to attain a six shot leading heading into Sunday morning. While many may coast to vicotry, Alexandra did quite the opposite and topped her impressive Round 1 score with an even more impressive round of 67 (-5) on Sunday to capture a ten shot victory Rounding out the top three and also playing great golf this weekend was Keira Shavitranuruk (+4) & Chloe Wang (+11). This becomes Alexandra's 5th FJT victory in her last 5 starts, continuing her very impressive streak, which started back in April of 2021.
