FORT PIERCE, Fla. Phillip Dunham and Honorine Nobuta Ferry battled challenging weather conditions over the weekend to emerge victorious at Fairwinds Golf Course. Both players added their second win of the 2022 season to their resumes.
Boys (13-15)
Birdies were bountiful for many during the first round, which made it a tight race from the start in the Boys (13-15) Division. After round one, Phillip Dunham and Brooks Colton were tied for the lead at 4-under par, followed closely by Miles Russell, Tristan Weiland, Pavel Tsar, and Nicholas Pisarski at 3-under par.
Round two proved to be equally exciting with the multiple lead changes throughout the day. Tristan Wieland made a hard push birding the first four holes of his second nine to propel him to the top midway through the day. However, Phillip Dunham was able to endure the challenge and finished with a birdie on the 17th hole to shoot 4-under on the day, 7-under for the tournament, and earn his second FJT victory of the year.
Miles Russell and Tristan Wieland also played solid golf shooting scores of 69-69 to finish tied for second.
Girls (13-15)
After steady play in round one, Honorine Nobuta Ferry and Hannah Hall were tied for the lead at 1-under par 71. Not far behind in a tie for third were Siuue Wu, Bianca Gibbs, and Staci Pla who finished the day at 2-over par 74.
Sunday proved to be moving day with Wu firing a 5-under par 67 moving her up the leaderboard into a tie for first place with Nobuta Ferry who wrapped up her final five holes at 1-under to shoot a 2-under par 70. Nobuta Ferry went on to win the first hole of the playoff with a par on the 10th hole to secure her second win of the season.
Staci Pla maintained her third place standing with a solid 2-under par 70, giving the West Palm Beach native her third top 10 of the season.
