WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Six players took home Florida Junior Tour trophies on Sunday at Okeeheelee Golf Club, as the tournament was shortened to 18 holes due to weather. Xin Wang and Valentina Hurtado captured victories in the 13-15 division. Cooper Foegen and Leah Gram were victorious in the 11-12 division, while Carson Brauth and Chloe Wang earned a win in the 9-10 division.
Boys (13-15)
Wang survived a playoff to secure the win in the Boys (13-15) division, finishing the tournament at 2-under 70. The Bradenton native got the round started with an even-par front side. He kept it rolling on the back side, posting three birdies to finish the day in a tie at the top with Ronav Benak.
Wang captured the victory on the first playoff hole, his first FJT win. Benak ended the weekend with a runner-up finish, while Ibby Carrington and Shawn Coultoff shared third place at 1-under 71.
Girls (13-15)
Hurtado fired the only under-par round in the Girls Division to take home her second FJT win of the year. The Weston native posted a bogey-free round with a birdie on the seventh to earn the one-shot victory.
Marley Pedrique finished runner-up at even-par 72, while Chloe Chang and Miranda Lu finished tied for third at 1-over 73.
Boys (11-12)
Foegen used an even-par 72 to take home the win in the Boys (11-12) division, one of only two even-par or better rounds in the 9-12 tournament. The Hobe Sound native carded a 2-over front nine. He put together a solid back nine with four birdies, including back-to-back birdies to start the back side. He captured the one-shot win for his second FJT victory.
Bento Assis finished runner-up at 1-over 73, while Arnold Pouncy took third at 4-over 76.
Girls (11-12)
Gram carded a 2-over 74 to earn her first FJT victory. The Jupiter native got the round started with a birdie on the second, making the turn at even par. She finished the day with a 2-over back nine, with two birdies, to capture the three-shot win.
Alexandra Phung took a runner-up finish at 5-over 77, while Reilly Kirwin finished third at 8-over 80.
Boys (9-10)
Brauth used a 6-over 78 to take home his second FJT win on Sunday. The Palm Beach Gardens native carded a 3-over front nine and closed out the tournament with a 3-over back nine to earn the one-shot win.
Zachary Netz posted a 7-over 79 to finish second, while Benny Minter finished third at 10-over 82.
Girls (9-10)
Wang captured her first FJT win with an even-par 72 for the tournament. The Orlando native got off to a quick start with birdies on the first two holes of the day, making the turn at 1 over. She closed out the round with a 1-under back nine, with three birdies, to card one of only two even-par or better rounds.
Alyna Yensabai finished second, while Sara Valentine took third place.
