Coultoff & Yugay Take Home Wins at Capital City
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Shawn Coultoff and Nicole Yugay both survived a playoff to take home Florida Junior Tour victories on Sunday at Capital City Country Club. This is the fourth FJT win for Coultoff and the first for Yugay.
Boys 13-15
Coultoff used a bogey-free final round to take home the win in Tallahassee, ending the weekend at 3-under 141. He posted a 2-over 74 in Saturday’s first round to sit six shots back of the leader.
The Winter Garden native got off to a strong start in the final round, posting a bogey-free front side with a birdie on the sixth. Coultoff added another birdie on the 14th, following it up with an eagle on the next hole.
He birdied the final hole to card a final-round 67, the low round of the weekend. Coultoff finished the day in a tie for first with Eric Zhao at 3-under 141. After both players made a par on the first playoff hole, Coultoff secured the victory with a par on the second.
Zhao, who held the first-round lead, finished runner-up after rounds of 68-73. Aaron Leach finished third at 2-over 146.
Girls 13-15
Yugay went wire-to-wire to take home her first FJT victory, finishing the weekend at 14-over 158. She began the tournament with a first-round 77 to take three-shot lead over the field.
The Delray Beach native started the final round with a 4-over front side. Yugay finished the day with a five-over back nine to card a final-round 81. She ended the day in a tie for first place with Gracie Grant at 14-over 158.
Yugay secured the win with a par on the first playoff hole. Grant took home a runner-up finish, while Mariane Johnson finished in third place at 17-over 161.
