Amuso and Prieto Capture Win at Palm Harbor
PALM COAST, Fla. - Nicholas Prieto and Kaley Amuso were victorious on Sunday at Palm Harbor Golf Club picking up the Florida Junior Tour win. It was the first FJT win for both Prieto and Amuso.
Boys 13-15
Prieto captured the win on Sunday with a 2-over 146 for the two-day tournament. The Miami native posted a 1-under 71 in the first round, the only under-par round in the division. He posted four birdies on the day and finished the round in a tie for first place with a three-shot lead over the field.
He carded a 3-over 75 for the final round to secure the one-stroke victory.
Jackson Klauk, Asher Joseph, Jon Wang and Reggie Zhu all finished in a tie for second place at 3-over 147. Klauk and Joseph both posted a 2-under 70 in the final round, the low round of the day. Wang and Zhu used a final-round 1-under 71 to earn a runner-up finish.
Gabriel Zhang and Shawn Coultoff took home a tied for sixth-place finish at 4-over 148.
Girls 13-15
Amuso picked up the win in Palm Coast with a 7-over 151. She carded a 5-over 79 in the first round to finish the day three shot behind Layla Pedrique in first place. Amuso began the final round with a 1-over on the front nine.
The Orlando native shot a bogey-free back nine to post a even-par 72, the low round of the day, and secure the two-shot victory.
Pedrique and Arenui Faana finished in a tie for second place at 9-over 153, while Siuue (Masa) Wu and Sarah Loza finsihed tied for fourth at 10-over 154.
