Palm Coast, Fla. – Sean Dobson and Gloria Nip captured the victory on Sunday at Palm Harbor Golf Club. Dobson went wire-to-wire to capture the Boys Division victory by one stroke and Gloria Nip took the Girls Division victory by thirteen strokes after carding a record breaking 62. Jessy Huebner also captured a wire-to-wire win for the Boys (13-15) Division while Valentina Marie Guertin reigned champion of the Girls (13-15) Division. Huebner carded a tournament total of four-under par and Guertin took the win by one stroke with a tournament total of six-over par.
Round one brought ideal playing conditions with sunshine and minimal wind. Sean Dobson took the lead early shooting a bogey free 67. He carded five birdies to hold the lead by three strokes after the first round. Enrique Mediato Diaz and Ryan Gear both carded a two-under 70, to share second place.
The sun was shining bright for the second round, which brought warmer temperatures. Sean Dobson made the turn at even par for the day to hold his lead at five under par, four strokes ahead of Felix Luetke Meyring and Ryan Gear. Meyring made a comeback narrowing the lead to only one stroke after carding a bogey-free 68. However, Dobson persevered with steady play and captured the victory.
The girls leaderboard was tight at the top with three tied for the lead after round one. Eden Tsouklaris, Shanya Arasu, and Yu Bai all shot four-over par, 76 to share the lead heading into the final round. Gloria Nip and Hannah Booth were not far behind both carding a 77.
However, it was Gloria Nip who pulled through to capture the victory. Nip carded a final round of ten-under par, 62 and broke the Girls Division record by two strokes. In addition, Nip carded the second lowest round in FJT history across both divisions. She made the turn with six birdies for a 31 on the front nine and then continued on to birdie five consecutive holes on the back nine to card another 31. A truly remarkable round for Nip and she earned a well-deserved victory.
Jessy Huebner claimed the win for the Boys (13-15) Division. Consistency was key Huebner as he shot a two-under par in each round to win by four strokes over Brooks Colton, Hugo Stenstrom, and Reed Krosse. Huebner’s round highlights included five birdies in the first round and three birdies in the second round.
