FJT Santa Lucia (13-18) *Exempt Only*

Santa Lucia River Club, Port Saint Lucie, FL

December 2-3, 2023

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – William Lisle and Marley Pedrique outlasted the competition at Santa Lucia River Club. Lisle picks up his victory by shooting 68-68–136 while Pedrique secures her victory by shooting 71-72–143.

Boys (13-18)

In a field of only exempt players each player knew they could not get off to a slow start Saturday in Round 1. William Lisle took the early lead as he made the turn at 4-under 32 with birdies on Holes 12, 13, 15, 16, and 18 with his only bogey coming at the 11th. Taeyoung Lim and Justin Sui would be close behind Lisle by finishing 2-under 34.

After the turn, Lisle would continue a steady round with one bogey and one birdie, coming in at 36-32–68. Lim would stray from the pack and battle the course making three birdies and one bogey to come in at 68, tied with Lisle. Sui and William Huang would finish the first round at 1-under 71.

Heading into Round 2, there was a battle to be the champion. Lisle would pull away early by having birdies on Hole 4 and 5, making the turn at 1-under. Sui would continue a steady round by making the turn with two birdies and one bogey.

Huang and Lim would fall back after making a bogey and a double bogey on his first two holes. Lim would make the turn at 3-over 39. Huang would battle the course and make the turn at 1-over 37.

Reaching the back nine, Lisle would secure his lead and the title by firing off four birdies and one bogey. Sui would follow him in securing second place by shooting 71-70–141. Taeyoung would then place third with a score of 68-75–143.

Girls (13-18)

Starting off with a strong lead with five birdies, Emma McKoan would immediately stray from the pack as she would make the turn at 3-under 33. Following three strokes behind, Mara King would finish the turn even par and Marley Pedrique would make the turn at 1-over 37.

With four bogeys and only one bogey on the back, McKoan would lose her lead and finish the round at even par shooting 33-39–72. King would continue a steady round with one bogey and one birdie, coming in at an even 72.

Pedrique would stray from the pack and take the lead by firing two more birdies on the back nine. Finishing at 1-under par, the 2028 graduate would take a one shot lead over her competitors, making the final round anything but boring.

Pedrique would extend her lead by shooting off a birdie on her first hole of the day. Giving that lead right back with a bogey, she would make the turn at even par 36. King would drop back one stroke by making the turn at 1-over 37. McKoan would also drop out of the mix as she would make the turn at 3-over 39.

Coming into the mix, Ann-Sophie Bourgault, would battle the course to make her way to the top with a 1-under 35 at the turn.

As the final round was coming to a close, Marley Pedrique would hold her solo lead by coming in with an even par 72 and become the champion for the girls division. King and Bourgault would tie for second, King shooting 72-73–145 and Bourgault shooting 73-72–145.
