ORLANDO, Fla. – Stefan Ink and Jonna Hubbs outlast the field over two dry and windy days at Rio Pinar Golf & Country Club to capture their first Florida Junior Tour victories.
Boys (16-18)
Stefan Ink secured his first Florida Junior Tour victory on Sunday afternoon after an impressive final round of 2-under par that vaulted him into the winner's circle. The Illinois native began the day three shots back of the leader Rene Nicholas, but his lead would evaporate quickly after Ink went 3-under par on his opening nine. Ink would not waver on his closing nine either, he continued his solid play by making pars on every hole except for the 11th. Ink went on to finish the tournament at 1-over par, pushing him ahead of Jamie Chepenik who shot 3-over par for the tournament, good enough for a solo second finish.
Rounding out the top three finsihers was Michael Weber and Sean Dobson who ended the tournament at a total of 5-over par.
Girls (16-18)
In the Girls Division, Jonna Hubbs found herself atop the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon after shooting a final round of 72 to finish the tournament at 4-over par. Much like Stefan Ink, Hubbs entered Sunday’s final round three shots behind the first round leader Alicia Qian. Hubbs began the final round with a birdie on her opening hole and ended up finishing her front nine at 1-over par. Hubbs would elevate her game on the back nine, making two birdies and only one bogey to close out it at 1-under par. Her final round of even-par proved to be enough to clinch her first Florida Junior Tour victory, finishing ahead of Alicia Qian who shot 7-over par for the tournament.
Finishing in a tie for third place was the trio of Alexandra Drum, Brianna Castaldi, and Katie Carman who ended up at 8-over par for the tournament.
