JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A competitive field took advantage of two perfect days for golf at the FJT Jacksonville Beach Open. Phillip Dunham claimed victory for the Boys division while Hannah Hall outlasted a three-way playoff to claim her victory for the Girls division.
Boys (13-15)
Sunday’s round proved to be moving day. Phillip Dunham fired a tournament low round 5-under 67 to vault himself up 16 places to claim victory at Jacksonville Bach Golf Club. Dunham’s round consisted of five birdies, four of which came on the front nine and only one bogey. Dunham bettered his first round by 10 strokes giving him a three-shot victory.
Not far behind Dunham, Mittag, Vandermolen, Harper, and Duran all finished in a tie for second place. Mittag, Vandermolen, and Duran also all made moves up the leaderboard with great play to claim their tie for second. Harper, who started the day in second place, played consistent golf shooting rounds of 73-74 to maintain his position.
Girls (13-15)
Hannah Hall solidified her first place finish on Sunday after a one-hole playoff against Loa Johannsson, and Sofia Cherif Essakali to claim her first FJT victory. Hall started the day with a 1-shot lead after an opening round 72. Hall’s consistent play continued into her playoff where she finished with a par the par-4 10th hole.
Johannsson and Cherif Essakali both made moves up the leaderboard by firing an even-par 71. Cherif Essakali’s round consisted of two birdies and two bogies. She now has two second place and one first-place finish to start out her 2022 season. Johannson played equally as consistent by matching Cherif Essakali’s two birdies and two bogeys for her even par round.
