VIERA, Fla. - A strong field took to Duran Golf Club to compete in the FJT Duran *Exempt Only* (13-18), and two deserving champions were crowned. Reggie Zhu, of Winter Garden won the Boys' division, while Chloe Kovelesky, of Boca Raton, won the Girls' division. Both winners came from behind on Sunday to win.
Boys (13-18)
Zhu, who has seven second-place FJT finishes to his name, started the tournament with an even-par 72 on Saturday. He entered Sunday trailing by one stroke to Henry Robards, who shot a 1-under 71 in the first round. Zhu posted a blemish-free 69 (-3) with three birdies to claim the victory that had eluded him for so long.
Robards, of Jacksonville, turned in an even-par 72 on Sunday to take home the second-place finish at 1 under for the tournament. The trio of Brody Stevenson, Maxmilian Jelinek, and Tyler Mawhinney finished in third-place at 2-over 146.
Girls (13-18)
Kovelesky began her tournament with a 2-under 70, and found herself trailing by two shots heading into the final round. Izzy Pellot, of Orlando, got off to a great start Saturday, shooting 4-under 68 to find herself in solo first heading into Sunday. Kovelesky carded four birdies on Sunday en route to a 3-under 69, finishing in first place at 5 under for the tournament.
Pellot shot a 1-over 73 on Sunday, which paired with her opening-round 68, was enough to take home second-place finish. Siuue Wu, of ChampionsGate, finished in third place with rounds of 69-76--145 for the tournament.
