West Palm Beach, Fla. – Andrew Tsar and Claire Liu seal the victory at the FJT Okeeheelee Open (13-15) on Sunday, September 24. After a rain delay to start the final round, Tsar and Liu prevailed to earn well-deserved trophies.
Boys Division
The leaderboard was tight after the first round of the Boys Division. Vasili Gianakas held the lead by one stroke over Andrew Tsar. Gianakas posted a four under 68 carding six birdies over the eighteen holes. Tsar posted a three under 69 with three birdies and one eagle over the first round. In addition, Shayaan Kim sat in third place not far behind at two under par.
Thirty-six holes of competition and one playoff hole later, Tsar walked away with his first Florida Junior Tour win. He posted a one under 71 during the final round to finished tied for first place with Vasili Gianakas. Consistency was key for Tsar as he carded two birdies and only one bogey on Sunday. Gianakas carded an even par 72 and secured a second place finish. Trevor Tingle secured third place shooting a two under 70 on Sunday.
Girls Division
Claire Liu captured a wire-to-wire victory of the Girls Division by two strokes over Elli Chon. Liu led by two strokes after the first round after carding a three over 75. Catherine Andino sat in second place with a five over 77. In addition, Jayden Loyacona and Leah Gram shared third place after the first round.
Liu held her two stroke lead in the final round and ultimately earned a trophy. She posted a seven over 79. However, Elli Chon jumped three place up the leaderboard to secure second place after carding one of the low rounds of the Girls Division with a one over par 73. Sofia Rivera also carded a 73 and moved up the leaderboard six places to secure a third place finish.
