OCALA, FLA. – Colton Swartz and Layla Pedrique were victorious on Sunday at Stone Creek Golf Club. This is the first Florida Junior Tour win for Swartz, while Pedrique picks up her third FJT victory.
Boys (16-18)
Swartz earned the one-shot win with a 4-under 140, posting two rounds of 70. He sat one shot back of the leaders, Aaron Leach and Brett White, after carding three birdies in the first round to post a 2-under 70.
Beginning the final round a tie for second, Swartz got the day started with birdie on the third and made the turn at 1 under. The Fleming Island native added two more birdies on the back side to capture the victory with a final-round 140.
Reggie Zhu used rounds of 70-71 to take home a runner-up finish at 3-under 141, while Leach finished third at 1-under 143 with rounds of 69-74.
Girls (16-18)
Pedrique secured her first FJT win of the year in wire-to-wire fashion, finishing the weekend at 4-under 140. The West Palm Beach native got off to a strong start in the first round, posting a bogey-free 69 to take a share of the 18-hole lead.
Starting the day in a tie for first with Caiyi (Flora) Zhang, Pedrique carded two birdies on the front side. She used an even-par back nine to secure the one-shot victory with a final-round 71.
Zhang finished runner-up at 3-under 141 with rounds of 69-72, while Mi Li used rounds of 70-72 to take third place at 2-under 142.
