Strafaci & Woulfe Take South
Frank Strafaci and Rick Woulfe captured their third four-ball title together winning the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South Championship at The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek in Naples on June 3-4.
In the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South, Frank Strafaci, of Davie, and Rick Woulfe, from Fort Lauderdale, fired a two-round total of 14-under par 130 on the Creek Course to win the Championship by one stroke. Strafaci and Woulfe posted a pair of 65’s to win their third four-ball Championship as partners. The South Florida duo captured the 1995 Four-Ball Championship and 1998 Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championship. In addition, Woulfe, last year’s Senior Player-of-the-Year, won the 2005 Senior Four-Ball Championship with partner Bob Ethridge. David Obst and James Weick finished one shot back from the Champions with a 131 tournament total. The pair from Fort Lauderdale shot a 65-66 for second place. Matthew Anderson, of Tampa, and Scott Kennedy, of Pompano Beach, shared third place with Rick Johnston, of Fort Myers, and Danny Simmerman, from Fort Myers, after each team recorded a 133 for the tournament.
The Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championships are each 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. The field is flighted after 18 holes. To be eligible, players must be 25 years of age or older and members of the FSGA.
