Three Teams Earn Men’s Net Four-Ball Title
The Men’s Net Four-Ball Championship named three teams champions this weekend, December 13-14, at Walt Disney World Golf on the Magnolia Course. The teams of Andy Weber and Patrick Brisley, Peter Lucas and Dwaine Zitko, and Keith Barber and Wayne Talmadge captured trophies in their appropriate age divisions.
In the Under 50 Age Division, Patrick Brisley, of Tampa, and Andy Weber, of Lake Mary, fought through a tight leader board to be crowned victorious. After round one, the pair of Weber and Brisley were tied for first with the team of Daniel Riley and Jacob Foster with a three under-par score of 69. During the second round, Brisley and Weber felt pressure from all teams in the Under 50 Age Division due to six teams posting under-par rounds. The team of Riley and Foster stayed in close contention with Weber and Brisley but fell to second place by one stroke with a score of 71. Brisley and Weber held onto first place and fired a two under-par score of 70 to claim the win.
Peter Lucas, of Spring Hill, and Dwaine Zitko, of Tampa, captured the 50-64 Age Division with a 14 under-par, 130, tournament total. After round one, there was a tie for first place with the teams of Lucas and Zitko, Robert Pike Sr. and Steven Hauser, and Bill and Bob Shulha. The three teams posted a round one score of six under-par, 66. There was a wire to wire battle in round two to determine the champion. Lucas and Zitko held onto first place after the second round with a score of 64. The pair of Pike and Hauser fell to second place with a second round score of 69, tournament total 135, and the Shulha’s shot a round two score of 71 to claim third place.
Keith Barber and Wayne Talmadge, of The Villages, posed two bookend rounds of 63 to capture the 65 and Over Age Division. The team of Barber and Talmadge claimed first place after round one by two strokes over the pair of Marson Germanetti and James Quick. Donald Brannon and George Fries finished round one in third place with a score of 66. During round two, the team of Bobby Kilgore and Bill Johnson chased Barber and Talmadge, but finished the tournament with a score of 64, tournament total 133. Barber and Talmadge fired the tournament low in both rounds and won by seven strokes with a tournament total 126.
This is the first year for the Men’s Net Four-Ball Championship. The Championship wraps up the 2014 tournament schedule by naming the teams of Andy Weber and Patrick Brisley, Peter Lucas and Dwaine Zitko, and Keith Barber and Wayne Talmadge Champions.
