Seniors Visacki & Opfer Prevail
Michael Visacki and Madison Opfer grabbed first place honors at the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) Mission Inn Resort & Club, in Howey-In-The-Hills, Presented by the Keiser University College of Golf, March 17-18.
Michael Visacki, of Sarasota, posted a tournament total of even par 144 to earn his first career FJT title on the El Campeon Course. Visacki posted a first round of even par 72 to trail the first round leader by one stroke. In the final round, Visacki fired another solid round of even par which included a clutch birdie on the 18th hole to seal the victory by one stroke. Ryan Celano, of Naples, finished in second place after rounds of 75-70 for a tournament total of one-over par 145. Celano’s final round of two-under par 70 was the low round of the tournament in the Boys' Division. Sean Smothers, of Tamarac, and Harrison Winger, of Orlando, finished tied for third place with a tournament total of four-over par 148.
In the Girls 16-18 Division, playing the Las Colinas Course, Madison Opfer, of Plant City, went wire-to-wire, to capture her sixth career FJT title. Opfer carded a first round of one-under par 71 to take a three stroke lead into the final round. Opfer continued her solid play in the final round with an impressive round of three-under par 69, to win by five strokes. Madison Lellyo, of Windermere, finished in second place after rounds of 76-69. Abbey Carlson, of Lake Mary, finished alone in third place with a tournament total of 147.
