Ibbotsons Win 10-12 Division

Chase and Chad Ibbotson prevailed to win the 10-12 age division. The father and son team from Heathrow finished with 59 stableford points to edge out Brehnden Daly and Tony Schissel, from Lake Mary.

John and John Driscoll, of Ormond Beach, finished with 54 stableford points to win the championship in the 8-9 age division. The duo edged out Don and Don Bell, of Port Orange by one point. This is the second Championship for the Driscoll’s, after winning the 6-7 year old division last year.

Gus and Michael Vickers, from Naples, gained 48 points for the 6-7 age division win.

 

The Junior division will play the Oak Trail Course which is a 9-hole par 36 featuring shorter par 4's and par 3's.

ELIGIBILITY: At least one entrant of each team must be a member of the FSGA or FWSGA. Professionals can play but are not eligible for trophies or prizes in the regular division but are fully eligible in the junior division. Grandparents may also play with grandchildren.

AGE: Child must be age 6 or older as of July 25, 2009. A child 6-12 years of age can move up to regular division, but a child age 13 or older may not move down.

ENTRY FEE: $140 for Junior Division ($160 - members who do not have an active FSGA/GHIN Handicap). (Only two-person teams are permitted).

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: The format of play for the Junior Division is Modified Alternate Shot using Stableford scoring each day. Both players hit tee shots from their respective tees. Both players then hit the second shot with the other's ball. After the second shot, the team chooses which ball it will use to complete play of the hole hitting the chosen ball alternately for the remainder of the hole.

TEE TIMES: In the Junior Division at the OAK TRAIL Course, the 6-7 and 8-9 age divisions will have an 8:30 AM shotgun start and the 10-12 age division will have an 11:30 AM shotgun start.

FLIGHTS: Teams will be flighted according to the child's age in one of three age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-12). There will be no gender-based divisions.

COURSE: The Junior Division will play the Oak Trail executive course.

CARTS: Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

PRACTICE ROUND: Practice rounds on the Oak Trail Course at the discounted rate of $25 per player are available Tuesday, July 21 through Friday, July 26 before 10:00 AM. After 10:00, the rate of $15 per player applies. Players make call (407) 938-3873 to reserve a tee time—Monday – Friday 8:00am—5pm

REGISTRATION TABLE: There will be a registration table set up in the back of the pro shop. All contestants are requested to check in.

PAYMENT: The courses accept Cash and Visa/MasterCard for method of payment.

THEME PARK TICKETS: In past years, Disney has provided the FSGA a one day - complimentary ticket for admission to any Disney theme park for each competitor. The ticket is valid for July 24-26, 2009 only. You may pick your ticket up at the Magnolia Golf Shop on Friday from 9 AM to closing or at registration on Saturday morning. This tee gift is not a guarantee. The FSGA will know more and will post the information when we get closer to the Championship.
