Gosse & Godwin Win Mid-Senior Four-Ball North
Kelly Gosse and Ken Godwin defeated two teams in a playoff to earn their second title of the year and win the Florida State Mid-Senior Four-Ball North Championship.
The 2004 Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Champs, Gosse, of Inverness, and Godwin, from Ocala, fired a 67-70-137 on Amelia Island's Long Point Course. State Four-Ball Champions, Bret Voisin, of Orlando, and Jeff Robinson, of Longwood, also posted a two-day total of 137 as did Robert Gaff and Victor Gavalas, both of Tallahassee. In the playoff, all three teams made bogey on the first playoff hole. Gosse and Godwin clinched the Championship when they birdied the second playoff hole while the other teams made par. Alan Sorrick, of Tampa, and Terry Tavrell, of Valrico, finished the event one behind the leaders shooting a 67-71-138.
The Championship is 36 holes of four-ball stroke play over the course of two days. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. To be eligible for the Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships, participants must be 40 or older.
