Jacksonville Duo Wins North Championship

The Florida State Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships crowned two Champions on Sunday, September 21. David Anthony and Wes Paxson won the North Championship at Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach.

Defending Champions, Anthony and Paxson, of Jacksonville, shot a 67-63, 130 over the two-day event to win their second title. Two strokes back from the leading team was Richard Henken, of Gainesville and John Robinson, of Orlando who shot a 66-66 and Doug Snoap, Apopka and David Sutton, of Maitland who shot a 64-68. In the first flight, Mark Taylor, of Jacksonville and Mark Peterson, of Longwood recorded a 70-68--138 to claim the first flight as Joe Steinberg and Terry Tavrell, both of Valrico, won the second flight. The North Championship consisted of 48 teams vying for the title.

 

After hosting the 2002 Mid-Am Four-Ball, Sugar Mill Country Club is back on the schedule as the site of the northern Mid-Senior event. Sugar Mill is a Joe Lee-designed 27-hole course with generous fairways and well-bunkered greens.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 40 or older as of September 20, 2003 and be a member of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$310 per team. ($300 for online entry.) Includes cart fees for tournament rounds and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes.

CARTS

Players are responsible for practice round cart fees.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Jacksonville’s David Anthony and Wes Paxson posted 64-68--132 to claim the north title at Grand Haven Golf Club in Palm Coast.
