Naples Team Wins South Title

The Florida State Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships crowned two Champions on Sunday, September 21. Lee Booker and Scott Ernst claimed the South title at The Club at Renaissance in Ft. Myers.

The South Championship featured the Naples team of Lee Booker and Scott Ernst shooting a 66-63--129 to win the Championship flight by five strokes. In second, Bruce Fitzpatrick, from Homestead and Samuel Martinez, of Miami shot 66-68--134. The 28 teams were divided into two flights as Chris Muscara and John Hewlin, both from Bradenton shot a 71-69--140 to win the first flight.

The Club at Renaissance will host the southern championship. The Club at Renaissance is the first full-scale private club in Fort Myers designed by Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates. They created a course that is fun to play with generous fairways and good strategic options

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 40 or older as of September 20, 2003 and be a member of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$310 per team. ($300 for online entry.) Includes cart fees for tournament rounds and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes.

CARTS

Players are responsible for practice round cart fees.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Lee Fields, Parkland, and Kevin Schaffel, Pembroke Pines, won the south event at TwinEagles Golf & Country Club in Naples. The team finished four strokes ahead of the field at 63-67--130.

ACCOMMODATIONS
