Lucas & Walters Claim Senior Four-Ball
Don Lucas and Mike Walters shot a 10-under par in the second round of the Florida State Senior Four-Ball Championship to win the title by six strokes. Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota hosted the Championship on October 13-14.
Lucas, of Lithia and Mike Walters, of Tampa shot a 70 in the first round to be tied for fourth place going into the final day. The duo shot a 62 in the second round and 132 total to win the title. First round’s leader, Billy Graham, of Pensacola and Fred Peel, of Chipley finished in second shooting a 67-71—138. Defending champion, John Darr, of Gainesville, and new partner, Rick Spears, of Stuart finished eight strokes back from the winners shooting a 68-72—140. Darr and Spears tied with two other teams for third place.
In the first flight, Curtis Madson, of Mount Dora and Ron LeClair, of Osteen shot a 74-71—145 to win the flight as Don Rutledge and Tracy Allen, both of Winter Park, recorded a 76-71—147 to prevail as the second flight winners.
