Four Claim FJT Trophies in Pensacola
Pensacola Country Club, located on Pensacola Bay, provided a great weekend of golf for all age divisions in the Florida Junior Tour event this weekend, November 15-16. The juniors faced cooler temperatures and a tight race for first place.
In the Boys 16-18 age division, Bryce Geraghty, of Gulf Breeze, fired an opening round of five under-par to seize the win by four strokes over Matthew Mourin. After round one, Geraghty held the lead by three strokes ahead of Sam Uhland who posted a two under-par 70. Mourin was not far behind in third place with an even-par score of 72. Geraghty posted a second round even-par score of 72. Mourin, of Miami Lakes, chased Geraghty during round two and finished with a one under-par score of 71 to move to second place. Uhland finished tied for third with Kevin Slayden after firing a second round 76. This is Bryce’s first FJT win, which earns him a spot in the Tour Championship.
In the Girl’s 16-18 age division, Amanda Doherty shot the only under par round in the girl’s division to capture the victory. Doherty, from Atlanta, Georgia, fired a first round score of 71, one under-par, to lead by three strokes over Teresa Conroy. Amanda held onto her three-stroke lead with a second round score of 76, tournament total 147. Conroy, of Tallahassee, finished in second place with a tournament total 150, three strokes ahead of Emily Uhland in third place. This marks Doherty’s second FJT win in 2014.
Cody Carroll, of Jacksonville, opened with a round one score of 74 to lead the Boys 13-15 age division. Following close behind Carroll, Connor Campbell fired a first round 76 to finish round one in second place. Carroll faltered in round two by shooting 81 for a tournament total 155 and a third place finish. Connor Campbell played strong in round two with three birdies to claim first place by two shots. Connor captures his first FJT win with his two bookend scores of 76.
Ariel Yu, of Bradenton, captures her first FJT win in the Girls 13-15 age division. After round one, Ariel Yu led by three strokes over Lauren Miller with a score of 77. Ariel Yu held onto her lead in round two after posting a score of 75 for a tournament total 152. Miller finished in second place with a second round score of 74, tournament total 154. Caroline Craig finished in third place with a tournament total 163, nine strokes behind Miller. Ariel Yu earns a spot in the Tour Championship after her victory.
Next weekend, November 22-23, the FJT travels to Timacuan Golf and Country Club in Lake Mary and Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs. The Tour Championship held at TPC Sawgrass on December 13-14 is not far behind to wrap up the 2014 FJT season.
