Playing Activity
- Playing Activity - to be eligible, players must not have played as a professional, during the 12 months prior to the Championship (August 1st of prior year, to the first day of Championship) extensively on the following tours:
A. Major Tour Events - Must NOT have played as a professional in more than six (6) combined. Major Tours are generally the following:
- 54 hole or 72 hole competitions on a regional to national level
- Players generally need to go thru some form of qualifying for the Tour or specific event (Q-School or Monday Qualifying)
- Purses are mainly funded by sponsor money, rather than driven by the player's entry fees
- Events are ranked by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
- Below are some examples of current Major Tours.
Abema TV Tour, All Thailand Golf Tour, Alps Tour Golf, Asian Development Tour, Asian Tour, Big Easy Tour, China Tour, EuroPro Tour, European Challenge Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, KPGA Korean Tour, Local iQ PGA Tour, MENA Golf Tour, Nordic Golf League, PGA European Tour, PGA Tour, PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour China Series, PGA Tour Latinoamérica, PGA Tour of Australasia, ProGolf Tour, Professional Golf Tour of India, Sunshine Tour and/or any tour and/or tournament deemed by the Committee to be comparable.
The US Open, US Senior Open, PGA Championship, Senior PGA Championship, PGA Tour Q-Schools, and Monday qualifiers are NOT included in the 6-tournament count;
OR,
B. Minor Tour Events - May NOT have played as a professional in more than twenty-six (26) combined. A mini-tour or minor tour generally has the following characteristics:
- 18 hole, 36 hole or 54 hole local or regional competitions
- Players can sign-up and receive entry into these fields without resumes or previously qualifying
- Purses are funded mainly by player's entry fees with nominal added sponsor money
- Events are generally not ranked by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR)
- Below are examples of some active and past mini or minor tours
Big Money Classic, West Florida Golf Tour, Moonlight, Florida Professional Golf Tour, Tarheel Tour (eGolf Tour), No Exemption Tour (NEXT), Outlaw Tour, Minor League Tour, Dakotas Tour, SwingThought.com Tour (eGolf Tour; Professional Series, Winter Series, Carolina Series, Carolina Series and NGA - Great Lakes), OnCore Gateway Tour (eGolf Gateway Tour), GOLFSlinger.com Tour tournaments, For the Players Golf, Sunbelt Senior Tour, Florida Elite Golf Tour and/or any tour or Open event deemed by the Committee to be comparable.
Eligibility
- Florida Residency - Player must meet Florida Residency Requirement as outlined here.
- Golf Professionals must have a SSN, EIN, ITIN for tax reporting purposes.
Questions - Any question regarding eligibility should be referred to the FSGA office. The Committee maintains the right to declare a player ineligible at any time during the competition for failure to meet eligibility requirements. Ineligible players will not receive refunds.
