James Taylor Jr. Wins State Public Links Title

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - After shooting a final-round 68, James Taylor Jr. of Plant City had to defeat Winter Haven's Bruce Scamehorn on the second playoff hole to win the Florida State Public Links Championship at Falcon's Fire Golf Club on Sunday.
Taylor had shot a first-round 73, but closed strong to tie Scamehorn with a two-day total of 141. Scamehorn closed with a 69.
First-round leaders Phillip Eich of Altamonte and Bret Voisin of Orlando dropped to a tie for fourth. After their first-round 70, both finished with 74's.
Auburndale's Tim O'Neil shot 71-72-443 to finish in third. Orlando's Michael Hirsch closed with a 69 to go with his first-round 75 to join Eich and Voisin in fourth place.
The Florida State Public Links Championship is the ninth of 16 state championships conducted annually by the Florida State Golf Association.
