Returned Veteran Scores 294 To Take Florida Open

Burl Bolesta, veteran of some of the most bitter fighting in the African, Sicilian and Italian invasions, won the 72-hole Florida open golf championship at the Palma Ceia Course today with a 294. The stocky ex-service man added two rounds of 74 to his total of 146 strokes in the first 36 holes.
In second place was Lieutenant Frank Stranahan, Army strong man of Toledo, Ohio, based at Buckingham Field, Fort Myers, who scored a 74-77 today to finish second with a 298.
In third place was Jim Lee, long-hitting Tallahassee amateur, with a total of 300.
